Financial Recovery and Operational Excellence
From a $13.4 million deficit in 2023, Brightwater returned to a $2 million surplus in 24 years after Curtis became General Manager in October 2023 by decommissioning three unviable aged care facilities.
It was a very challenging project, but one that resulted in great outcomes for all residents. Curtis also changed decentralised systems to centralised ones to maximise efficiency, saving $3.8 million in costs and providing a more flexible work environment for staff.
Ability to deliver on projects
Curtis played a key role in Brightwater Inglewood, a $52 million senior living facility and corporate office.
Despite labour shortages, material shortages, and COVID-19 challenges, the project was completed on time and on budget.
Service for people
Creating a living environment for staff and residents is also important to Curtis.
He believes in work-life balance and has introduced flexible scheduling, which has significantly reduced staff turnover.
He also supports brain health principles, emphasising the importance of addressing neurological conditions in senior care.
